With profound gratitude and the deepest sense of honor, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks for the recognition given to my composition:
“Kumuda Djiwa: Gamelan Mangkunegaran”
which has been nominated for the “2026 AMI Awards @amiawards in the category of Best Ethnic Music Production”, one of the most prestigious music awards in my homeland, Indonesia.
This work was commissioned by KGPAA Mangkunegara X @bhresudjiwo @mangkunegaran and Aga Khan Music @agakhanmusic. For me, it represents not only an artistic journey, but also a meaningful historical marker.
Gamelan, as a musical heritage passed down by our ancestors, has made such a profound and dignified contribution to the character and soul of our nation. It continues to live, evolve, and manifest itself in many forms, while finding its rightful place on great stages around the world.
I receive this nomination with humility, as a small part of a much longer journey built by generations of artists and musicians.
Thank you to the ancestors, my teachers, the generations of composers and artists who have opened the way, the gamelan musicians, performers, and all those who continue to preserve, embody, and develop this heritage, Thank you to the land of Java, Thank you, Indonesia.
May “Kumuda Djiwa” become part of the continuing journey of the sound and soul of the Nusantara, carrying the heritage of our ancestors into an ongoing dialogue with the world and with generations yet to come.
🙏🏻🇮🇩
